The NW Timberjacks Baseball Club will once again represent Western Washington at this years Junior Olympic Tournament in Peoria and Surprise, AZ. The Junior Olympic Championship is a grassroots Olympic Development Program launched in 1996 in cooperation with the U.S. Olympic Committee and serves as the foundation of USA BaseballÕs athlete-development pipeline. During the tournament USA Baseball will evaluate players to be considered for the 2011 Youth National Team. Players for the National Team are chosen exclusively from this event and will compete in the International Baseball Federation Championships in Mexico later this summer.
Games will be held at the Major League Spring Training sites of the Mariners and Padres in Peoria, the Royals and Rangers in Surprise and the Dodgers and White Sox in Glendale, AZ. The tournament is a pool play format leading to a single elimination playoff and teams are guaranteed a minimum of 7 games.
